British Columbia, Canada - FormaShape (www.formashape.com), a division of Whitewater Composites and market leader in the design and manufacture of fibreglass reinforced plastics (FRP) for architectural fascia products, is pleased to announce the appointment of Pete Yakachuk to the position of Lean Coordinator.
"Lean is a business performance improvement tool that focuses on enhancing quality, cost, delivery, and people, and has been instrumental to streamlining FormaShape's production process", explained Peter Jeffrey, President of FormaShape. "This newly created position of Lean Coordinator, cements our commitment to the Lean philosophy by dedicating full-time resources to the implementation of Lean thinking", he said.
Pete Yakachuk has been an employee with FormaShape since September 1990. During his 16 years with the Company, Yakachuk has been a critical advocate in the transition from a traditional manufacturing facility to a world-class Lean organization. In his most recent position as Quality Control Manager, Yakachuk (above left with Darren Bassett - Operations Manager - with the FormaShape Innovation Insights Award) played a key role in securing FormaShape's International Standard ISO 9001 re-certification. ISO 9001 certification is formal recognition that FormaShape conforms to the industry's most stringent quality standards.
In a move that further supports FormaShape's commitment to Lean values, the Company has recently recruited a Chemical Engineer into the organization. Mohammad Hossain will be responsible for conducting research into improving existing processes, reducing waste, and enhancing the quality of final products. Hossain has an Engineering and Management degree, and has spent the past five years researching fibreglass and reinforced plastic plastics on behalf of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation.
